In 2020, Fertile Ground was able to deliver fresh food and vegetables to almost 100 families over the course of two months. This initiative was another step in Fertile Ground’s commitment to bring fresh produce to the Southeast Raleigh Area.
This year, we have been working to bring this program back and keep it alive for the foreseeable future. Contrary to popular belief, the pandemic is not over; it has only evolved and the virus evolves with it. Our immunocompromised community members, as well as those with pre-existing conditions, are still in danger. So too, are our elders and senior citizens. At Fertile Ground, we understand that the food we consume is more important now than it ever has been, and so we want to help as many households as we can by connecting our neighbors and friends to the fresh produce that is growing around us. Our goal is to grow this program to the point where it is self sustainable, but as of now supplies are limited. With that in mind, priority will be given to immunocompromised households and Families with Children, Seniors, and Disabilities. Essential Workers and those facing Unemployment are also encouraged to apply.
